We are pleased to offer a vintage 1960’s battery operated Space Patrol 3 Flying Saucer with astronaut pilot made in Japan by Yoshiya and imported into the U.S. by Cragstan.  The Flying Saucer works and it functions as designed.  This Japanese tin toy features bump-n-go action; it will run forward until it hits something then reverse direction.  This tin space toy has a revolving spiral antenna that spins fine and two fixed angled antennas.  Once in motion the astronaut driving the flying saucer moves his arms back and forth when the spaceship contacts something.  Appearing as if he’s steering the spaceship around the obstacle he hit.  As this is happening a light behind the astronaut and below the semi-circular red and blue lenses flashes as the motor makes a high pitched screeching noise.  The battery box on this vintage tin toy has some corrosion on the lid and a few small spots in the box.  This minor corrosion does not affect the functionality of the toy.  The red white and blue finish features a U.S. Air Corp (stars and bars) emblem on the back and the words SPACE PATROL 3 on the front.  The finish is original but it does have some scattered scuffs and scratches and a bit of corrosion here and there.  The chrome semi-circular lens cover behind the astronaut has lost its chrome plating.  The clear dome while quite transparent also has some scuffing on it.  The toy is marked JAPAN on the lid of the battery cover and KO in a diamond outline logo with the words MADE IN JAPAN under the logo on the back of the astronaut’s seat.  This vintage space toy measures 7 ½” in diameter.  We have found that this flying saucer toy has been made in at least three different color schemes.  Do you have all of them?  PLEASE REVIEW ALL PHOTOS AND USE THE ENLARGE AND ZOOM FEATURES FOR BEST DESCRIPTION.
