A wonderful late 1800's or early 1900's Walking Dachshund Automaton made by Roullet et Decamps of Paris, France. When wound the dog will walk a few feet moving all four legs and turning its head from center to left and back; he works very well (see the video above).  He still has all four original wheels on the bottom of his feet. The winding shaft is on the right side and the start/stop lever is on its belly just forward of the back legs (it works well).  The dog has a carton body and head covered in a thin leather giving the dog a realistic look. After over 100 years of walking around the leather around his legs joints is starting to wear and stiffen some, there are small tears and a few openings in the leather have occurred.  The skin overall has some staining and wear.  The original collar is still in place and it has three small green "jewels" (celluloid maybe?) on it along with the name plate (no name on it) and leash loop.  The key is not the original one but works well and will be included in the sale.  The dog measures about 10" overall length and about 6 1/4" tall.  He has an adorable face with glass eyes and a painted mouth and nose.  Another great automaton by the famous French automata maker, Roullet et. Decamps.  PLEASE REVIEW ALL PHOTOS AS WELL AS WATCH THE VIDEO ABOVE FOR THE BEST DESCRIPTION OF THIS WONDERFUL CLOCKWORK ANTIQUE DACHSHUND AUTOMATON.
