We are pleased to offer for your consideration a wonderful Roullet & Decamps clockwork walking elephant automaton made in Paris, France circa 1890's.  This elephant walks very well and when wound he will slowly lumber along flapping his ears forward and back again (be sure to watch the video above to see him in action).  The elephant is in pretty good condition with a natural suede skin covering his body, original small glass eyes, and his original large wooden tusks.  This elephant does have scattered loss of the leather covering his body and legs (most notably on his legs and on the ridge of his back) and the leather covering his trunk has been replaced.  This mighty elephant measures approximately 14” long by 9 ¾” tall, and about 4 1/4” wide with the ears tucked in against his head.  This antique French Roullet et Decamps clockwork walking elephant automaton is in good condition given his age and he will make a fantastic addition to any early toy or automaton collection!  A replacement winding key that works well is included.   PLEASE REVIEW ALL PHOTOS AND USE THE ENLARGE AND ZOOM FEATURES AS WELL AS WATCH THE VIDEO ABOVE FOR THE BEST DESCRIPTION OF THIS EARLY ROULLET et DECAMPS WALKING ELEPHANG AUTOMATON.
