MADE IN JAPAN TIN AND CELLULOID WIND UP CAR PREWAR

We are pleased to offer for sale an early tin Japanese wind up car. The style and construction of this toy makes us believe it was made in the 1920’s. The toy is working well and once the fixed key motor is wound the car will travel in a circle while the driver hammers away on the drum and on the bell. Both the bell and the drum sound when they are struck. The lithography on the toy is in excellent condition and it’s quite fancy and very detailed with gold highlights. The celluloid head has a well hidden glue repair at the neck; it’s difficult to see unless you pick the car up and examine it closely (please use the zoom feature on the photos to see for yourself). The toy is marked in the back with the initials HK in a triangle and the words “MADE IN JAPAN”. We have attempted to identify the maker with no luck. This early Japanese tin litho wind up toy car measures 5 ½” long, 4 ½” wide, and 6 ½” tall. The toy is in great shape with very few scratches and only minor wear. Antique Japanese tin toys from this era are getting increasingly harder to find so don’t miss this opportunity to add this one to your collection.  PLEASE REVIEW ALL PHOTOS AND USE THE ENLARGE AND ZOOM FEATURES FOR THE BEST DESCRIPTION OF THIS RARE ANTIQUE TOY.
