We are pleased to offer for your consideration a rare and marked Gunthermann tin wind up musical Black Saxophone Player. This antique toy is working very well and when wound the musician will raise and lower his sax, head, and arms as the music box under the seat plays a plink-plink melody. This toy is marked under the sax player’s right arm with the letters SG in a shield centered in two circles with the words “MADE IN GERMANY” in a half circle under the logo. The toy is in very nice condition with a bright colors and a glossy lithographed finish. There is scattered surface corrosion primilary on the right side of the toy and considerable corrosion to both sides of the saxophone. We can find NO areas of repaint or signs of any repair work and all the tabs are present. Marked Gunthermann toys from this time period can be very difficult to find. Measuring just over six inches tall, about 4 ½” in depth, and just over 3” in width means this colorful Gunthermann Saxophone Player will fit easily into your collection. Early lithographed Gunthermann toys are a tribute to the attention and detail during manufacturing that makes early German tin toys so very popular today.
