Ives articulated walking horse & cart

We are pleased to offer for your consideration a rare Ives Victor articulated walking horse and cart.  This hard to find cast iron pull toy was manufactured circa 1890.  When drawn across the floor the horse moves all four of his legs in a “walking” motion.  The cart has a lot of the original paint that has darkened over time; red on the outside and green inside. If you look carefully it is possible to make out the word VICTOR painted on the right side of the cart.  The left side has darkened too much to read.  The horse is painted black with yellow harness highlights. The wheel under the horse and the wires attaching it to the legs are replacements.  The wheel is a bronze casting pattern we purchased from an auction selling original parts and patterns.  It is possible this casting pattern was used to make the original cast iron wheels for this toy. Other than the small front wheel and the wires the remainder of the toy is original.  There is some tiny white paint spatter on the bottom of the cart and there is some corrosion on various places on the toy.  If you collect early American toys you know that this cart does not come along too often and it will make a great addition to any early toy collection.    PLEASE REVIEW ALL PHOTOS AND USE THE ENLARGE AND ZOOM FEATURES FOR THE BEST DESCRIPTION OF THIS WONDERFUL EARLY AMERICAN TOY.

IF YOU ARE LOCATED IN THE UNITED KINGDOM AND YOU WISH TO PURCHASE THIS ITEM, PLEASE CHOOSE THE EXPRESS MAIL INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING OPTION DURING CHECKOUT SO THAT WE MAY INSURE THIS TOY (THE POSTAL SERVICE NO LONGER OFFERS INSURANCE ON ITEMS SHIPPED VIA PRIORITY MAIL INTERNATIONAL TO THE UNITED KINGDOM).
