We are pleased to offer for your consideration a wonderful Ives Crawling Girl cast iron pull toy.  This early American toy was made in Bridgeport Connecticut circa 1880 – 1890.   Upon close examination using a jeweler’s loop the hand painted finish appears to be original.   When the string that is attached through a loop on the girl’s upper back is pulled the girl will move across the floor on a set of off-set wheels causing her articulated arms to move as if she were crawling.  BE SURE TO WATCH THE ABOVE VIDEO to see her in action.  The trick to getting the girl to crawl properly is to select a surface that will allow some friction like a short pile carpet as opposed to a table top.   With a little practice you should be able to make her crawl right along!  The toy measures about 5 1/8” in length by 3 5/8’ tall and 1 ¾” wide.  Early American cast iron toys in this condition are a treasured addition to any antique toy collection!  PLEASE REVIEW ALL PHOTOS AND USE THE ENLARGE AND ZOOM FEATURES AS WELL AS WATCH THE VIDEO ABOVE FOR THE BEST DESCRIPTION OF THIS WONDERFUL ANTIQUE TOY.
